Biography
Dr. Carl Guilmette, Ing. is a professor in the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering, internationally recognized for his work in fundamental tectonics. His research group integrates field observations, geochemistry, thermodynamics and numerical modeling to investigate the geological processes that have shaped the surface and bowels of the Earth for billions of years. Prof. Guilmette's most recent work tackles the enigmatic processes governing the birth of subduction zones, both on a local and planetary scale, as well as their implication in the formation of mineral deposits, leading his team to explore the most recent as well as the oldest geological archives on our planet.
